Join the Women’s Leadership centre for an afternoon of reflection around the lives of young lesbians that are often negotiated under various forms of oppression in the different cultures of our society, which expose them to multiple forms of violence and damage their self-esteem and identity.

From 14h30 to 16h30, an open invitation to all lesbians is made to participate in a workshop, to unleash their creative energies through writing, photography, art, dance or music.

The exhibition opening will follow at 18h30 displaying works of lesbians who articulate their resilience and resistance to stigma and discrimination through creative forms of expression.

Ending off the event at 20h00 will be the screening of “While you weren’t looking”. The film gives an insight into the lives of gays and lesbians, as wells as their experiences and relationships in contemporary South Africa. Rating 16 LNSP.
