Recognized worldwide and proclaimed by UNESCO, International Jazz Day highlights jazz as a universal language that promotes peace, intercultural dialogue, and creative freedom. The global celebration is led by legendary jazz pianist Herbie Hancock, bringing together musicians and audiences across continents.

This year, the FNCC places Namibian women at the centre stage, celebrating their artistic excellence and their role in shaping the country’s contemporary jazz scene.

The evening will feature two outstanding Namibian vocalists:

  • Yola B, whose musical career spans both Europe and Africa.
  • Esme Katjikuru, also known as “The Songbird,” celebrated for her dynamic performances that blend jazz, gospel, and Afro-pop.

Accompanied by a talented ensemble of Namibia’s leading jazz instrumentalists, The IJD All Stars, the concert will create a vibrant dialogue between local musical identity and global jazz traditions.

Through this celebration, FNCC aims to inspire young musicians—particularly young women—while strengthening Namibia’s presence in the international jazz community.

Presented by FNCC in partnership with UNESCO and Ondjila Y`Ondjaba Concert Agency, the Ministry of Education Innovation Youth Sport Arts and Culture, JazzDay initiative & Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz, & Energy 100FM Radio with Dr Kagiso Moloï, this event is part of a global celebration recognizing jazz as a universal language of peace and dialogue.
