Moonlight at the Galleries

The celebrations begin with a special anniversary edition of Moonlight at the Galleries, a collaborative city-wide arts experience bringing together some of Windhoek’s leading cultural spaces for an evening of visual arts, exhibitions, and creative encounters.

Participating venues include:

• Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC)
• National Art Gallery of Namibia
• Namibian Arts Association
• The Project Room

From 4pm until late, audiences are invited to explore simultaneous exhibition openings and curated visual art experiences across participating galleries, celebrating Namibia’s diverse artistic voices and creative expressions.

At FNCC

The highlight of the evening will be the opening of the FNCC 35th Birthday Exhibition, featuring selected artists responding to themes of:

• Identity
• Memory
• Culture
• Creativity

The exhibition will remain open throughout August 2026, giving visitors the opportunity to continue experiencing this special anniversary showcase.

Conference, Music Celebration & Community Market

The anniversary celebrations continue with an evening dedicated to music, community, and local creativity.

Audiences can look forward to live performances by:

The evening will also feature a vibrant craft and food market, bringing together local creators, artisans, and food vendors for a celebration of Namibian talent and community spirit.

About the Conference
Dr Marie Lemerle:

French wildlife researcher and conservationist Dr Marie Leerle has dedicated her career to the study and protection of one of Namibia's most elusive predators: the brown hyena, locally known as the strandwolf. Based in Lüderitz, she leads the Brown Hyena Research Project, a long-term conservation initiative that has been monitoring the species in the Tsau Khaeb National Park since 1995.

Holding a PhD in Wildlife Management from the University of Pretoria, Dr Lemerle combines cutting-edge scientific research with conservation, environmental education, community outreach and ecotourism. Her expertise has contributed to numerous international scientific publications and wildlife documentaries for acclaimed broadcasters including National Geographic, Disney+, Netflix and ARTE.
