First celebrated on 26 September 1981, the Lusata Cultural Festival was under the leadership of the Mafwe Chief, Richard Mamili, as a reaction to the issues which had befallen the Mafwe people in the then Caprivi Strip (now Zambezi region).

Launching on 17 September 2018, the Lusata Festival will bring their culture to the FNCC as a Society talk, exhibition, play and dance and will occupy a market stall between 3 – 8PM.

Their rich cultural diversity and also their achievements in politics, education, agriculture and many other fields of human endeavor are celebrated during Heritage Week 2018 in honour, too, of the ancestors who lie buried under the turf at Linyanti.

The objective is to unify, safeguarding the rich diversity of Namibia.
